Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.
These projects have been selected by our independent Grant Review Panel as those that will have the greatest impact in serving uninsured or underinsured women in our service area. Please note that Susan G. Komen for the Cure is not a direct service provider.
A Women?s Wellness Center offers comprehensive wellness services which include the first health & beauty boutique in the South Bay. Komen San Diego is sponsoring a program called ?Unidas Luchando Por Vivir? The Asian Pacific Health Center (APHC) in collaboration with other organizations offers the “Breast Cancer Early Detection Program for Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIA) in San Diego.” The program’s ultimate goal is to improve the health disparities among APIA by increasing the percentage of women getting breast exams and mammograms according to NCI Guidelines.
