College Scholarships

“My wife of eighteen years, Michelle, lost her ten year battle with breast cancer in September 2006.  Michelle’s only wish was that I take care of our children and ensure that Dan Jr. receives a college education.  As the ten year battle with cancer left us in financial ruins, your scholarship made this wish possible. Receiving this scholarship was such a bright spot in the most devastating chapter of our lives; I could never thank you enough.”
--A Parent of a Scholarship Recipient

Program Overview

The Komen College Scholarship program has awarded forty-one scholarships to students who have lost a parent to breast cancer.  Each student receives $10,000 each year for up to four years while attending a state university or college.  Scholarship recipients serve as Komen Ambassadors, engaging their campuses and social networks in raising breast cancer awareness by participating at local Race for the Cure events and volunteering with a local Affiliate.

Current scholarship recipients are attending universities such as, Alabama A&M University, Colorado School of Mines, Iowa State University, Kansas State University, Old Dominion University, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Texas Tech University, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Toledo.
